Establishment of Water Resources Utillization Department

Under the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation “Water Resources Utilization Department “wasestablished on the 1st April 1995.

 Objective:

   The main function of Water Resources Utilization Department is – To supply irrigation water by pumping water from rivers and streams and also utilization of groundwater from feasible potentials for boosting crop production in Myanmar.

Planned Target
In line with one of the national objectives of development of agricultural, the department, on its part, is making strenuous efforts to boost crop production by supplying irrigation water through its two main strategies. Currently 16 special river pump irrigation projects are at hand and are in progress. By the year 2030 these special projects will have been accomplished and the overall irrigable area is programmed to be 742486 acres (300480 ha).
